At its core, Dramatherapy is a therapeutic framework which uses methods of drama and theatre to facilitate and promote creativity, imagination, learning, insight and growth. Dramatherapists work with individuals and groups of all ages and use a wide range of verbal and nonverbal creative, theatrical and dramatic techniques such as story-telling, story-making and enactment, improvisation, role-play, puppets, movement and body work, music, voice work and art. Based in the knowledge that most of us reveal the nature of our difficulties through metaphor and symbol, Dramatherapy can use these techniques to offer ways to express needs, anxieties and fears, and explore difficult life experiences through an indirect approach to promote healing and change.
