Khula is an African word meaning to grow, to mature.
To grow in understanding, self awareness, acceptance and love is at the heart of what we aim to achieve at Khula therapies.
Khula's mission is to promote healing, growth, and empowerment through the transformative power of creative arts therapy and play. We strive to provide a safe and inclusive space where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can express themselves, explore their emotions, and develop self-awareness, resilience, and well-being. Through evidence-based approaches, we aim to inspire creativity, foster personal growth, and facilitate positive change. We are passionate about advocating for the recognition and integration of all the arts therapies as an essential component of holistic health and wellness. Together, we believe in the profound capacity of the arts to promote healing, restore balance, and transform lives. We currently offer Dramatherapy and hope to include Music Therapy and Art Therapy in the coming future.
Jojo is a Play Therapist and Dramatherapist having completed her Masters in Dramatherapy at Roehampton University in London and her Play Therapy training through Play Therapy Australia.
She has had experience across a range of context in both South Africa and England from juvenile offenders, complex emotional and behavioural difficulties, learning difficulties, children on the autistic spectrum and within mainstream schooling systems . She is passionate about developing positive attachment and connection between child and carer and with helping children navigate their world in a child-centered way.
She is a huge advocate for Play Therapy and the Creative Arts therapies and feels it a non threatening, indirect, explorative space where children use their own language to bring about positive change. Helping any child find their strengths, build their resilience and express themselves whether they have experienced trauma or are just finding it hard to find their grounding is Jojo’s focus and passion.
Jojo is a professional member of ANZACATA.
